Donate
The Houlton Humane Society operates on the slimmest of shoestring budgets, and we raise 60% of our annual budget through financial support from the community. 80% of our donations are $20 or less.
You can donate via pay pal - the link is at the bottom of our "animals available for adoption" page as well as this page.
What to give someone who has everything? Consider an honorary gift. We'd be delighted to send a card to the recipient, with our thanks for the donation in his/her name.
Shop!
Did you know we sell high-quality nice Lupine leashes and collars? Or that a volunteer makes homemade jewelry for sale at the shelter? We also sell t-shirts and cookbooks, so please stop in and shop!
Host a fundraiser
Having a birthday or retirement party? Let guests know that you are collecting donations for the shelter. This is an easy way to gather supplies for animals in need.
Volunteer
We rely on volunteers to keep the shelter open! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Heather Miller! From clerical and telephone support to cage-cleaning and animal exercise, we have a job for you!
Some immediate needs are:
Bleach
rubber gloves
cat litter
dog & cat food for the pet food pantry
paper towels
garbage bags (33 gallon size)
laundry detergent
fabric softener sheets
clean gently used towels, sheets, blankets
canned dog and cat food
Did you know the Houlton Humane Society employs a resident, certified Animal Control Officer? Or, that the Houlton Humane Society manages an active nursing home animal therapy program?
